The short version
- Yanyou is only for adults aged 20 and over.
- Yanyou does not sell or promote any tobacco product and does not encourage smoking. Smoking harms your health. Quitline 0800-636-363 (toll-free).
- Zero tolerance for sexual content, harassment, hate and illegal content — accounts that break this are suspended.
- Payments go through Apple; digital content is not covered by the 7-day withdrawal right once supplied. Details in the Subscription and Refund Terms.
1. Who you are agreeing with
Operator: 菸友 Yanyou (individually operated); contact email: yanyouapp@gmail.com
Referred to below as "Yanyou" or "we". You can also use "Contact support" in the app.
By ticking the box at sign-up you agree to these terms, the Privacy Policy, the Community Guidelines and the Subscription and Refund Terms.
2. Who can use Yanyou
- You must be 20 or older, and the date of birth you enter must be true; it can't be changed once entered. Before your first random call you confirm once more that you are 20 or older.
- One account per person. Accounts can't be transferred or lent.
- If we find an account belongs to someone under 20, we suspend it and block that person from signing up again.
3. What Yanyou offers
- A map of legal smoking areas, check-ins, spot reviews and photos.
- "Calls" random voice calls (voice only for now; if video is enabled later, only when both agree; anonymous random calls are currently open only from 20:00 to 01:00 Taiwan time each night — the hours may change, and the app shows the current hours; calls between friends work at any time), a question wall, greetings, messaging, spot circles, the All-Taiwan Circle and the All-Taiwan Quit Circle, and gifts.
- Quit mode (tracks smoke-free days and milestones) and the "Beat the craving" breathing exercise. Anyone using quit mode can use the match filter "people who are quitting only" for free.
- Mist companions, outfit items and pets, inviting friends with free draws, and share cards.
- Levels, achievements, companion evolution, festival events and festival cards, the monthly map-contribution board (the top three each month get one month of free promotional Yanyou Plus) and the friends board.
- Some features need a subscription or purchase — see the Subscription and Refund Terms.
- Launch offer (until 23:59 on 31 January 2027, Taiwan time): a paid Yanyou Plus purchase before the deadline comes with the "Launch member pin"; the NT$30 "Launch dawn clip" is sold only before the deadline. Rules: section 2 of the Subscription and Refund Terms.
We may change, add or stop features. We announce major changes in the app in advance.
4. Tobacco control
- Yanyou exists to help adult smokers find legal designated smoking areas and to offer social features.
- Yanyou does not sell, advertise or promote any tobacco product (including e-cigarettes and heated tobacco) and accepts no sponsorship or money from the tobacco industry.
- There are no tobacco brand ads and no features that reward smoking more; gifts and artwork have nothing to do with tobacco.
- Users may not sell, trade or promote tobacco on Yanyou.
- Smoking harms your health. Quitline 0800-636-363 (toll-free).
5. Smoking-area information is for reference
Map data comes from government publications, OpenStreetMap and user reports and may be incomplete or out of date. On-site signs and the authorities decide where smoking is allowed. Except for our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, we are not liable for fines or losses caused by wrong data; this does not limit liability that the law does not allow us to exclude.
6. Rules (zero tolerance)
You agree to follow the Community Guidelines. In particular, never:
- post sexual content or nudity, offer sex work, or sexually harass anyone;
- harass, threaten or spread hate or discrimination;
- post anything inappropriate involving minors;
- scam people or ask for money; sell tobacco, drugs or anything illegal;
- impersonate others, get around contact masking, or record, screenshot and share other people's content;
- record, capture or share what is said in a call (Yanyou itself does not record calls, but we can't fully stop someone from recording with screen recording or another device; please report it if it happens).
We have zero tolerance for this content. We act on reports quickly (target for urgent reports: within 2 hours) and may remove content, limit features, suspend or permanently ban accounts, and block the person from signing up again.
7. Reports, automatic restrictions and appeals
- You can report or block from calls, chats, profiles, circles, questions and spots.
- To protect people quickly: if 2 or more trusted users file urgent reports, or 3 different users report the same account within 7 days, the system may temporarily restrict that account until the operator reviews it.
- Threats, sexual violence, self-harm and possible minors are urgent reports and handled first; when needed we cooperate with 110 (police), 113 (protection hotline) and iWIN.
- If you think a sanction is wrong, appeal in the app under "Account status"; we review it again and reply.
8. Your content
- You keep the rights to the photos, text and spot data you upload.
- You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce, compress, display and publicly transmit this content only as needed to provide, maintain and improve Yanyou (for example showing it on the map, your profile and in chats). We never sell your content or use it for advertising.
- The licence ends when you delete the content or your account; however, smoking-area data and photos you added have become part of the public map and stay with that spot after your account is deleted (without showing who added them).
- You confirm you have the right to use what you upload and that it doesn't infringe anyone's rights.
9. Quit mode is not a medical service
Quit mode and the breathing exercise help you keep track and stay distracted; they are not medical advice or treatment. For help, call the quitline 0800-636-363 (toll-free) or visit a smoking-cessation clinic.
10. Interacting with other users
- Becoming friends needs both people to agree; a greeting must be accepted before you can chat. If someone declines or doesn't reply, please don't keep trying.
- Yanyou doesn't arrange meetups. Your interactions with others (including meeting in person) are your own decision — see the meeting safety tips in the Community Guidelines. In immediate danger, call 110.
11. Payments, virtual items and invite rewards
Everything you pay for is bought through the Apple App Store and is covered by the Subscription and Refund Terms.
Virtual items
- Mist companions, outfit items and XP are virtual items. What you get is a limited, non-transferable, revocable licence to use them inside the Yanyou app — not ownership.
- Virtual items have no cash value. They can't be exchanged for money or anything else, sold, transferred or moved to another account. Sending a gift in the app is the only way to give an item to someone.
- A gift is an item that goes into the other person's wardrobe. It is not put on automatically — they decide whether to wear it. A sent gift can't be taken back.
- Some items can only be earned through achievements and can't be bought.
- The "Launch member pin" is the launch-offer gift: it is given once to an account that makes a paid Yanyou Plus purchase before 23:59 on 31 January 2027, Taiwan time (a trial that turns paid counts; a trial alone does not). It can't be bought or gifted, and it is taken back if every qualifying paid charge made before the deadline is refunded. The "Launch dawn clip" (NT$30) is sold only until the same deadline and then withdrawn; anyone who bought it keeps it. See section 2 of the Subscription and Refund Terms.
- Items from achievements you reached by subscribing to Yanyou Plus stay wearable after the subscription is cancelled or ends; they are taken back only if the related purchase is refunded.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its rules. After Apple refunds a purchase (including a gift you sent or received), the matching virtual item is removed and "Recalculation after a refund" below applies.
- If you delete your account, or it is suspended or terminated for breaking these terms, the virtual items in it end with it, without compensation (unless the law says otherwise).
- We may change how items look. If, for our own reasons (not because you broke the rules), we stop offering a companion or item that was sold, we will tell you in the app at least 30 days ahead and give you another item of similar value; if Yanyou as a whole shuts down, section 12 applies.
Recalculation after a refund
When Apple refunds a purchase (a subscription, extra minutes, a Mist companion, an item or a gift), we recalculate your progress as if that purchase had never happened:
- The refunded item is taken back; items you were wearing come off, and a removed background is replaced by the starter room.
- XP you earned from that purchase is removed, and your level and your highest level ever reached are recalculated from the XP that remains.
- Achievement tiers you no longer qualify for are taken back, together with their reward items and XP.
- Launch member pin: taken back when every qualifying paid charge made before the deadline is refunded; while one of them is not refunded, you keep it.
- Things you got by level (the reward item every 5 levels, companion evolution forms) above your recalculated level are taken back; the evolution form you chose changes to the highest one you can still use.
- Mist companions unlocked for free by level or achievement: the ones you no longer qualify for because of that refund are taken back, and if you were using one you switch back to Mist. A companion you had already stopped qualifying for before the refund, and kept under these rules, is not taken back because of that refund.
- Whenever anything changes, we tell you in the app.
These removals happen only because of a refund. When XP or achievements change for any other reason, reward items already given to you, evolution forms already unlocked and Mist companions already unlocked are not taken back.
Inviting friends and free draws
- An invite counts when the friend signs up through your invite link and is 20+, finishes signing up and then uses the app on 3 days. Each invite that counts = 1 free draw. Only the inviter is rewarded; your friend never has to pay or buy anything.
- Draws can't be bought or exchanged for anything paid. The only way to get one is by inviting.
- Odds for each draw: invite-only item 18%, invite-only companion 9%, regular item 23%, XP 50%; every draw also gives +50 XP. The odds are also shown on the draw screen in the app.
- Guarantee: invite-only items and invite-only companions are counted separately. If 5 draws in a row give no invite-only item, the 6th gives one; the same applies to companions. If both are due on the same draw, the companion comes first and the item guarantee carries to the next draw.
- If you draw an item or companion you already have, you get 150 XP instead.
- Anything you draw follows the virtual-item terms above.
- No abuse: fake accounts or your own other accounts, inviting yourself, buying, selling or trading invites, or mass sign-ups by script. If we find it, we may withhold or take back the related draws and prizes (including ones already drawn), and serious cases are handled under section 6.
- We may change or end the invite programme; we announce any change to the odds in the app first.
- Draws are completely free and can't be obtained with money or anything paid, so they are not paid chance-based items; we still publish the odds and guarantee rules.
Levels, companion evolution, festival events and leaderboards
- XP and levels are only for display and unlocking items and Mist companions. They have no cash value and can't be sold or transferred.
- Companion evolution: at Lv.25, 50, 75 and 100, evolution forms 1–4 unlock in turn for every Mist companion you own (based on the highest level you have ever reached, including companions you get later). Evolution forms can't be bought; they are earned only by levelling up. If a purchase is refunded, "Recalculation after a refund" above applies.
- Festival events: during a festival (Taiwan dates), do one listed action once — send a festival card, make a share card, or finish a Beat-the-craving round on World No Tobacco Day — to earn that year's limited badge, item and 30 XP for free; once it's over, it's gone. Check-ins, purchases and gifts don't count.
- Festival cards: free and can't be bought. You can send them only to mutual friends, 1 per friend per festival and up to 10 per festival; they appear in your chat.
- Leaderboards: the monthly map-contribution board counts only confirmed reports, approved corrections and confirmed new spots; the friends board is visible only to mutual friends and has no prizes. The monthly prize of the map-contribution board follows the rules below. You can opt out of leaderboards in Settings. For abuse such as fake reports or using several accounts to boost a score, we may reset the related points, remove the account from leaderboards or disqualify it from prizes, and handle it under section 6.
Monthly prize on the map-contribution board
- What it is: After each calendar month in Taiwan time (UTC+8), we select the top three of that month's map-contribution board. Each winner receives one month (30 days) of free promotional access to Yanyou Plus (with all benefits and the monthly call minutes of the 1-month plan at that time) and the "Map Champion" achievement; the No. 1 also receives the "Month's No. 1" achievement. The friends board has no prizes. The prize runs from the Service's first month.
- Eligibility: Any user registered in their own name who meets the Service's age requirement and whose account is in good standing may take part. No payment or purchase is needed. Accounts that chose not to appear on the map-contribution board (Settings › Privacy), staff accounts, and accounts that received any sanction during that month (including an upheld warning, a restriction, a suspension or a ban) cannot win.
- How points count: Only verified map contributions count — a problem report upheld by a moderator (3 points), an approved correction (3 points), and a new spot you reported that stays up for 7 days without being hidden after reports (5 points); at most 6 points per spot per person per month. Reviews, check-ins, photos, live status, gifts and any purchase never count. Contributions later hidden or voided do not count.
- Ties: We use standard competition ranking (for example 1, 2, 2, 4). Everyone ranked within the top three wins, so there may be more than three winners.
- Review: After the month closes, we manually review the top three for fake reports, multiple accounts, coordinated point trading or other breaches of the Community Guidelines. Prizes are granted only after the review. Ineligible or violating accounts are disqualified and the next eligible users move up in order. Our decision is final; you can contact us through in-app support with questions.
- The prize and how it is given: The prize is free promotional access provided by us. It is not an App Store or Google Play purchase, you are not charged, and it does not renew. After the review it is added to your account and we tell you in the app. If you already have an active subscription or an earlier promotional period, the free month starts when your current period ends. App Store / Google Play auto-renewal is managed by Apple / Google and is not paused; cancel auto-renewal yourself if you wish. The prize's call minutes are credited at once when it is granted.
- Restrictions: The prize is for the winning account only. It cannot be transferred, sold, exchanged for cash or anything else, or swapped. If the account is deleted or suspended, any unused promotional period and minutes end without compensation.
- Changes: We may change, pause or end this prize (including what it is and how many winners there are) with prior notice in the app. Prizes already approved are not affected.
- Apple / Google: This prize is run by us alone. Apple Inc. and Google LLC are not sponsors and are not involved in any way.
12. Deleting your account and ending the service
- You can delete your account any time in Settings › Delete account: you can cancel within 14 days, then it is permanent. Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription.
- If you break these terms, we may suspend or terminate your account.
- If Yanyou shuts down, we will announce it in the app in advance where reasonably possible, and stop selling paid items and further renewals. When the service ends, paid items such as subscriptions, purchased minutes, Mist companions, outfit items and pets end with it.
- Apple handles payments and refunds under its own rules. This section does not limit any rights you have under applicable mandatory law.
13. Limitation of liability
We work to keep the service running, but we can't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Except for our intentional misconduct or gross negligence and liability the law does not allow us to exclude, we are not liable for indirect losses from using Yanyou. This section does not exclude or limit any rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act or other law.
14. Apple
- These terms are between you and Yanyou, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the Yanyou app, its content, maintenance or support.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app (if any); Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- Yanyou, not Apple, handles any claims and intellectual-property claims relating to the app.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
- You confirm you are not in a country under a U.S. embargo and are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
This section applies only if you got Yanyou from the Apple App Store; on the matters it covers, it takes priority over the rest of these terms.
15. Changes to these terms
We date every update. For major changes we tell you in the app and ask you to agree again before you continue; if you don't agree, you can stop using Yanyou and delete your account.
16. Governing law and court
These terms are governed by the laws of Taiwan (R.O.C.). The Taiwan Taipei District Court is the court of first instance for any dispute about these terms or the service, unless the law lets you choose another court (for example, Article 47 of the Consumer Protection Act).
