How Yanyou prevents child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), and how we handle and report it.

Our position

Yanyou has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming of minors, sexual conversations with minors or asking them for images. Offenders are permanently banned, they are blocked from signing up again, and we report them as the law requires.

1. Yanyou is for people 20 and over only

  • Sign-up requires Sign in with Apple or an email code, and a date of birth; our server creates an account only if you are 20 or older.
  • The app is rated 18+ on the App Store.
  • If we find an account belongs to someone under 20, we suspend it and block that person from signing up again (matched by a hash of the Apple ID and email).
  • Users enter their own date of birth and we don't check ID, so we also rely on reports and automated detection to find underage users.

2. Prevention

  • All calls are currently voice only: no camera, no video is sent; random calls are anonymous (no name or photo).
  • If video is enabled later: random calls would still start voice-only, with video only if both people agree, and AI would check the picture automatically for nudity — on a hit the call ends at once, the account is restricted and the operator is alerted. Frames are not stored.
  • If video is enabled later: while video is showing, the call screen blocks screenshots and recordings where the system allows (a voice call screen shows no video and can be screenshotted).
  • Contact details (phone, LINE, IG and similar) are masked and objectionable words (including sex-work terms) are blocked.
  • In lists, strangers see only a nickname and Mist companion; profile photos are private by default — visible only after the person accepts a photo request, and they can take that back anytime.
  • A greeting must be accepted before a chat opens.

3. How to report

  • In the app: tap "Report" in a call, chat, profile or circle and choose "Might be under 20". This is an urgent report: it goes to the top of the queue with a 2-hour target, and the reported person is kept out of matching and lists while we review.
  • Outside the app: email our child-safety contact at yanyouapp@gmail.com with the person's nickname, when it happened and where (which feature). Do not attach any images or videos of minors.
  • In immediate danger: call 110 first.

4. What we do

  1. Review right away and suspend the account temporarily if needed.
  2. Preserve evidence: related records are excluded from automatic deletion. We never download or forward images or videos; we record where they are and give that to the police.
  3. Where child sexual exploitation is involved, under the Child and Youth Sexual Exploitation Prevention Act we restrict access to or remove the content within 24 hours of learning of it and report to the police and iWIN; the related content, user data and connection logs are kept for at least 180 days for courts and police.
  4. Permanently ban the account and block the person from signing up again.
  5. Cooperate with lawful requests from police and prosecutors.
